NFL betting Thursday Football

Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions

Packers -3 Over 47

Lions +3 Under 47

With the NFL season past the halfway mark, I think it\’s safe to say that both Green Bay and Detroit are the surprise teams of not only the NFC Norris but the league as well. The Sporting News forecasted the Pack and Lions to be .500 or worse and with an aging Brett Favre at QB in Wisconsin and a seemingly clueless Matt Millen at the front office in Detroit.

But preseason prognostication doesn\’t usually amount to much and both the Lions and Packers are on pace to make appearances in the playoffs. Green Bay currently sits at 9-1, tied with Dallas for the best record in the NFC and Favre currently owns a 98.6 QB rating; has passed for close to 3000 yards and completed 67.7 percent of his passes and thrown 19 TDs to 8 picks.

The perennially atrocious Lions are in the thick of the wildcard chase with a 6-4 record overall and a 4-1 record at home. QB Jon Kitna has thrown for 2,673 yards and 13 TDs and WR Roy Williams has caught 5 TDs and 719 receiving yards.

NY Jets at Dallas Cowboys

Jets +14 Over 47

Cowboys -14 Under 47

Tony Romo has picked apart opposing secondaries with laser like precision for much of the season. With a passer rating of 105.6, Romo has averaged 4 passing TDs and 270 yards a game his last two and with the lowly New York Jets team, that ranks 21st in the league in pass defense as Dallas\’ Thanksgiving opponent, Romo should be able to maintain or exceed those numbers. TO, Patrick Crayton and Jason Witten should benefit against the soft Jet secondary making for some fun and high flying football.

Indianapolis Colts at Atlanta Flacons/>

Colts -12 Over 41

Falcons +12 Under 41

The Colts were steaming along like a freight train until they hit the wall that was the New England Patriots. Since then they\’ve dropped another game against the Chargers and squeaked out a win against the Kansas City Chiefs. But they\’re playing the 3-7 Falcons and Turkey probably isn\’t going to be the only fowl that\’s getting cooked in Atlanta on Thursday night.

NFL Sunday Nighter

Philadelphia Eagles at New England Patriots

Eagles +22 Over 50

Patriots -22 Under 50

With a banged up Donovan McNabb and the Eagles limping into Gillette Stadium fans will get yet another chance to watch arguably the greatest team in NFL history in prime time and since New England coach Bill Belichick likes running up the score, the total could be especially attractive.

NFL Monday Nighter

Miami Dolphins at Pittsburgh Steelers

Miami Dolphins +16 Over 41

Pittsburgh Steelers -16 Under 41

The Dolphins didn\’t catch a break when the Steelers lost in overtime last weekend. That defeat drastically reduced the chances of the home side coming into this one unfocused, considering they are playing a winless team.

It has been a dreadful season for the Dolphins, but they are showing some signs of life and still go out and compete each week. They are getting 16 points – they have only lost once by more than that in their last six games and that was to the New England Patriots, so what do you expect. The Steelers are more talented all over the place and they are playing at home on Monday night, after an embarrassing loss they could be ready to take out some frustration on an overmatched opponent.
