Who: Thoroughbreds – Sea Level Drive, Marketing Mix, Louvakhova
What: Horse Racing Betting Tips – The Mrs. Revere (Grade 2)
Where: Churchill Downs
When: Saturday, November 12th
If you’re looking for a horse to upset likely favorite Marketing Mix in Saturday’s Grade 2 Mrs. Revere at Churchill Downs, look no further than Sea Level Drive at juicy morning-line odds of 20-1. Here’s a brief look at all of the contestants:
#1-Hungry Island (4-1): This highly-consistent filly from the Shug McGaughey barn recorded her first off-the-board finish last out when 4th in the Grade 1 Garden City at Belmont Park. She gets a rider switch from Solis to Nakatani, and will be making her first start in the Blue Grass State. Exotics candidate.
#2-Bizzy Caroline (4-1): She’s logged plenty of frequent flyer miles in her 9-race career, with appearances at Saratoga, Gulfstream Park, Keeneland, Hollywood Park, Del Mar, and Churchill Downs, where she’s a perfect 2-for-2 on the lawn. Hard to leave out of the mix.
#3-Groupie Doll (10-1): She’s got a nice closing kick on dirt and synthetics, but remains a mystery on grass after showing little sprinting on that surface in her career debut. Interesting.
#4-Holidaysatthefarm (20-1): Stablemate of Marketing Mix has been beaten by Bizzy Caroline in their last two encounters. Pass.
#5-Sea Level Drive (20-1): She’s a beast on synthetics, and finished well to get second behind Marketing Mix in the Grade 3 Pucker Up on the Arlington sod two back. Jockey James Graham is 2-for-2 aboard this filly, so perhaps he’ll move her up in her second attempt on grass. With a little racing luck, Sea Level Drive could turn the tables on the favorite with a big late run. I’ll bet on Sea Level Drive across the board at odds of 12-1 or better.
#6-Smart Sting (5-1)If you’re looking for a horse to upset likely favorite Marketing Mix in Saturday’s Grade 2 Mrs. Revere at Churchill Downs, look no further than Sea Level Drive at juicy morning-line odds of 20-1. Here’s a brief look at all of the contestant: Stronach homebred exits a nice Grade 3 win on the Woodbine main track, but appears to be a cut below these on turf.
#7-Don’t Tell Sophia (30-1): Perhaps her Pucker Up debacle is a throw out…if so, she’s usable underneath in tri’s and super’s.
#8-Trac N Jam (30-1): Appears overmatched.
#9-New Normal (12-1): She’s likely to set the pace coming off that nice win sprinting, but note her last pair of 2-turn tries resulted in 8th-place finishes.
#10-Marketing Mix (5-2): The field’s leading earner ($421,945) is in sharp form, coming off a 2nd-place effort behind Aidan O’Brien’s tough-as-nails filly Together. That was preceded by a pair of easy scores. Note that she toted 124 pounds in The Pucker Up vs. the 118 she’ll be asked to carry in The Mrs. Revere, so she’ll enjoy a positive 6-lb. shift from Sea Level Drive. Still, there’s not much value at 5-2 or less, so I’m taking a shot with the runner-up from The Pucker Up.
#11-Tourmaline (50-1): She’s a 3-time Oaks winner on the minor-league circuit (although that $250K purse in The Remington Park Oaks was nothing to sneeze at). Still, this water is much, much deeper.
#12-Louvakhova (6-1): You have to respect anything that Marty Wolfson ships in with, and this filly is no exception. My biggest fear with her is the dreaded Euro-bounce…she fired big first time stateside, so perhaps a regression is forthcoming. Post 12 is no bargain either.
Those are my horse racing betting tips for the weekend. Best of luck and happy gambling!
