Whether or not Shanahan stays with Beck or goes back to Grossman will be a key factor not only in this game, but also in the Redskins’ season. While the Panthers’ defense has been awful against the run, they have done a good job in pass situations and could challenge whoever is at quarterback for Washington. The book on Grossman is that while he puts up some good numbers he will always be prone to turning the ball over, something that simply can’t happen in big games. With three multi-interception games through five weeks and nine on the season, that is enough reason for Shahahan to stay with Beck. Regardless, the Redskins will give Carolina a heavy dose of Tim Hightower and Ryan Torain as they try and move the ball without turning it over.

Newton will make sure to test the Washington defense both on the ground and through the air, as his play under center has been one of the most incredible storylines this season. While everyone knew that he could make plays with his legs, Newton is also making plays with his arm and the Panthers are ranked fifth in the NFL in passing yards with an average of 297.3 per game. The problem is that the running game has not been able to get going behind a relatively mediocre offensive line, while the defense has had trouble stopping the rush. Newton has the potential to keep Carolina in any game, and if he can get some help they could squeeze out a sports betting bonus win at home.
