The preseason matchup featuring the New York Jets and the Washington Redskins sees two teams with new looks going into battle. The Jets are trying to make a push to the Super Bowl after falling in the AFC Championship game. New additions such as LaDainian Tomlinson, Jason Taylor, Santonio Holmes and Antonio Cromartie hope to get them there. They are missing the services of the best cornerback in the league, Darrelle Revis, who is engaged in a hold out with the team. It’s a new look for the Redskins too. Looking to change a losing culture, out is quarterback Jason Campbell and in is Donovan McNabb. They have also hired former Super Bowl winning coach Mike Shanahan in a quest to compete in what is perhaps the NFL’s toughest division.

Why To Bet On The Redskins
While McNabb and company looked great in the first game against Buffalo, they ran into a brick wall against the Baltimore Ravens, falling by a score of 23-3. McNabb did throw for 206 yards, which is an encouraging sign. Problem is, he completed only 11-of-26 throws. The Redskins will look for some more efficiency against a Jets defense that was the league’s best last season. It will be a good test to gauge where the team is at, and I expect the Redskins to be amped up to face off against one of the best teams in the AFC.
Why To Bet on the Jets
The Jets defense, in particular, their second team, bounced back from a poor game against the Giants to stifle the Panthers, winning by a score of 9-3. It is this game in which the Jets will fully unleash the new look offense and defense. Missing Revis will hurt, but the Jets should have enough weapons on both sides of the ball to make up for his loss. Kyle Wilson has performed admirably in his spot. The Jets will look to excite the home crowd, and hope for Mark Sanchez and company to perform at a high level and put the Redskins away early.
How the Game Will Play Out
It is going to be tough for the Redskins to rebound from the last outing against the Ravens, facing another tough defense in the Jets. Meanwhile, the Jets, playing at home, should have a clear advantage to winning this game. I do not think this one is close, as the Jets are operating at a high level, where the Redskins are still struggling to find an identity. I like the Jets to take this one home.
