Colorado came out of the gates swinging Monday night. RW Valeri Nichushkin scored early in the first period, but Tampa coach Jon Cooper challenged for off-side, and the goal was overturned. Colorado kept the energy going and scored again, but ran out of steam as Tampa Bay went on an offensive assault, earning the 6-2 victory by the final whistle. RW Nikita Kucherov hobbled off the ice after Devon Toews knocked him into the boards, but Cooper is hopeful that he’ll be able to play in tomorrow’s Game 4.

All of Colorado’s scoring came from team captain Gabriel Landeskog – both were power play goals. Avalanche netminder Darcy Kuemper was pulled after surrendering five goals on 22 shots. His back up, Pavel Francouz, made 11 saves and let in one goal in his first postseason loss this year. Colorado fans will be eager to see which goalie suits up on Wednesday.
