MLB Odds Betting: Boston Hosts Blue Jays for Four-Game Series

Game 3 of Toronto’s four-game series versus the Boston Red Sox is set for Wednesday at 7:10 PM ET, and at press, Steven Matz is expected to take the mound opposite of Boston’s Tanner Houck. This is the second series in two weeks between these two AL East rivals, and up to this point, it’s been all Boston.

The Red Sox won the last three games, scoring 25 runs and giving up just 12; however, Monday night’s game was competitive with the Jays losing by just a single run. Up to the end of the seventh inning, Toronto was leading 4-3 thanks to a fifth inning two-run homer by Bo Bichette. That changed in the eighth when Boston’s Alex Verdugo drove a two-run homerun off of reliever Trevor Richards (1-1) with Renfroe on base.

At press, the Jays are still 4.5 games back of a wild card spot and need all of the wins they can get. A recent lineup change seems to have kick started the Jays’ offense, but consistent with the first half, pitching has been their undoing; they sit 12th in the league with a 4.04 team ERA. They’ll wrap up the series with Game 4 on Thursday before returning to their home stadium in Toronto.
