European Tour Golf Betting – WGC-Accenture Matchplay Championship (Feb 17)

European Tour golf betting takes a break for the first World Golf Championship event of 2010, which only includes those golfers in the top 64 on Official World Rankings. That still includes a far few of the regulars on the European scene, and Rory McIlroy, one of the most consistent golfers on the current Tour, is a co-favourite of three priced 15.130* alongside defending Champions, Geoff Ogilvy and Steve Stricker on the WGC Matchplay odds at Pinnacle Sportsbook, offering match-ups priced to less than 103%.

European Tour Betting – Cream Of Europe Head to Arizona

Europe’s top golfers cross the Atlantic this week, to challenge for the WGC Matchplay Championship at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Marana, Arizona. The event is a single-elimination tournament with one round on each of five days, with the final played over 36 holes. Paul Casey lost in the 2009 final 4&3 to Geoff Ogilvy, and the Englishman is available with WGC Matchplay odds of 23.220* at Pinnacle Sports to go one better in 2010, though the suggestion is that he is yet to get back to the form shown in 2009 prior to injury.

Ahead of Casey in the WGC betting is Lee Westwood, the winner of the 2009 European Order of Merit, and Martin Kaymer, winner of the Abu DhabI Championship in late January – both are priced as 19.180* chances. McIlroy has the shortest odds of the European participants, reflecting his consistency over the last 12 months, and his performance at the Ritz-Carlton Course in 2009. It will however, be a concern for McIlroy backers that he has been complaining of back pain from excessive practice in recent weeks.
